Next-Level Jazz Guitar (and related styles) — Bath & Online

These lessons suit players who already have some foundation — you can get around the fretboard and you know a few chord types — but feel like you’ve hit a ceiling. The goal is to give you the tools, vocabulary and context to play with real confidence, regardless of the situation.

Sessions are built around what you can practice in 30-minute chunks – and customised to your own goals.

This is for you if….

• You play guitar (any background) and want to understand harmony and improvisation in greater depth
• You’ve tried learning from YouTube but feel like the ‘dots’ don’t completely connect
• You want to play in bands, jam sessions, recordings and need real vocabulary and confidence
• You’re a working musician wanting to expand into more styles

What we cover

  • Harmony — chords and structures, extensions, substitutions, chord melody
  • Improvisation and building lines over changes
  • Groove and time feel across styles (swing, funk, afrobeat, samba, blues and more)
  • Transcription and learning from iconic artists – not just guitar players
  • Repertoire — songs, standards, modern jazz, fusion, songwriter
  • How to arrange a tune in an original manner
  • Theory in context — never in the abstract, always applied to the instrument
  • Understanding, writing and reading charts
  • Developing your own musical voice
